One of the great characteristics of edcamps is that the sessions are decided in the morning by the people that attend. Do you have something you would like to share? or something you would like to learn more about? You can lead a session and have a discussion about the topic you have chosen.
Topics range from technology integration and its use in the classroom, to discussions about best teaching practices to help motivate and empower students. It is all up to you!
Can I be a facilitator?
Absolutely! Remember, at this un-conference there are NO PRESENTERS! The purpose of the sessions is to create an environment for discussion and sharing ideas. If someone is "presenting", it does not allow for others in the room to share their ideas and expertise.
Will vendors be leading sessions?
Venders will NOT be leading any sessions. Sessions are specifically designated for teachers that are interested in sharing the ideas and resources with other teachers, not for vendors trying to sell you something.
For more information about Edcamps, visit the Edcamp Foundation website and learn more about the mission and vision of Edcamp.
Who are the facilitators?
The facilitators can be anyone that is willing to moderate the conversation in the room! If you are interested in a certain topic and have some experience, but not a lot, you can facilitate the discussion to get others to share what they know.
The purpose of edcamps is to get everyone sharing their experience with each other and build a Professional Learning Network.
How much does it cost?
Edcamps are FREE!! There is no registration fee, just come and take part in the amazing discussions!
What happens if I am in a session and I want to leave?
If you are in a session and you are not getting what you need, LEAVE! Vote with your feet! It is important that every individual be selfishwith their learning and selflessin sharing.
Do not worry about offending the facilitators, they will understand and will encourage you to go where you are going to get what you need!
